culture & HISTORIC PRESERVATION

MINNESOTA MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART

The historical Pioneer Endicott Buildings hosts the Minnesota Museum of American Art. The design of the museum features a restored stained glass arcade and a glass storefront that gets recessed per the original design of the Endicott Building which dates back to about one century ago. The historical courtyard is uncovered and recovered with a glass box, which serves as a hub of various traffic flows. The ceiling in the exhibit area is made of carefully designed louvered that introduces a good amount of diffused natural light into space. The modern design language contrasts with historical language that the building originally carries, which reinforces the impression of both.
