Westonka performing arts center
As an addition to the Mound Westonka High School main building, the Performing Arts Center blends seamlessly into the original main building with a glass curtain wall; a building mass that steps up from the main building, presenting a non-imposing impression to visitors; and functions that naturally work together with the main building. The curvy shape of the new Performing Arts Center contrasts with the rectangular original main building that reinforces images of both buildings. At a very tight budget, the Performing Arts Center design fulfills all functional needs of the client and exceeds the client’s expectation by offering vivid spaces, natural light, and pleasing building aesthetics.

westonka activity center
The Westonka Activity Center is another addition to the Mound Westonka High School main building. The architectural design stands out as a recreation center that satisfies different user groups’ needs by offering natural functional flows, ample spaces, abundant natural light, and a cozy atmosphere. The relationship of the lobby and the main hall was set carefully so that the energy emitted by sports activities flows into the lobby visually without interfering with the lobby acoustically.

JIANGNAN MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPANSION CONCEPT
The challenges of this design come from the site, which is limited in size and has a large slope, while the campus demands a full-size soccer field and a 400-meter running track, as well as other functions that a modern middle school must have. The challenges were smartly met with a building complex that hosts a cafeteria, parking spaces, and a soccer field simultaneously by leaning against the large slope. This saved a significant amount of land, making it possible for the campus to be uncongested.

taihu elementary school CAFETERIA & RECREATION CENTER

LIYUAN MIDDLE SCHOOL CAFETERIA & RECREATION CENTER
This building is part of a group of buildings on a newly developed middle school campus. The site of the campus is divided by a river. A bridge and various platforms link buildings on the site. The Cafeteria and Recreation Center sits at the end of the linking element. Its shape mimics the effect of a force eroding a rock, and the cantilevered elements on elevation create a dramatic effect that echos the sporty functions of the building.
